Yahweh Listened to Elijah

1 Kings 16-17

H - "And Yahweh listened to the voice of Elijah. And the life of the child came into him again, and he revived." - 1 Kings 17:22

E - Ahab, the king of Israel, has chosen to marry Jezebel of Sidon, worship Baal, and make an Asherah. For this a great drought has come upon Israel, as announced by Elijah. Elijah has now come to stay with a widow in Zarephath, and the widow's son is close to death. But Yahweh resuscitates the boy at Elijah's request.

A -  Father, how can I be a mighty man of prayer, like Elijah (James 5:17-18)?

R - "Good question, Jeff. Take a good look at Elijah's life. He was willing to speak boldly to my enemies. He was willing to stand alone, to be the minority who speaks truth. He trusted me to provide for him. He spoke my words without compromise. The secret of his prayer life was conviction and courage. I invite you to have the conviction and courage of Elijah. He also prayed fervently (James 5:17). I invite you to pray much more than you are, and to ask me for more and more things, especially regarding the greater Dunedin area."

P - Yes, Lord. I hear you. Prayer is key. Thank you I have the Clark House at CYC Waihola right down the road. Perhaps it can be a prayer retreat for me every Thursday. Teach me how to pray fervently like Elijah.
