Every Thought Captive to Messiah

If You Will Walk before Me with Integrity

1 Kings 8-9

H - "And as for you, if you will walk before me, as David your father walked, with integrity of heart and uprightness, doing according to all that I have commanded you, and keeping my statutes and my rules, then I will establish your royal throne over Israel forever, as I promised David your father saying, 'You shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel.'" - 1 Kings 9:4-5

E - Solomon has just prayed a prayer to dedicate the new temple in Jerusalem. God tells Solomon that he has heard his prayer and that his eyes and heart will be toward the temple for all time. Then God invites Solomon to be like his father David. If Solomon walks with integrity and uprightness, then Solomon will have an eternal throne, just like David. Unfortunately, Solomon fails. Jesus does not come from Solomon's line.

R - Father, I want to walk before you with integrity and uprightness, doing your commandments, statutes, and rules by the power of the Holy Spirit. It is the Christ-life in me I want. I want to be like David, not Solomon. Teach me to walk as Christ walked. Help me to be his true disciple. Help me to walk day by day in the new way of life, by the Spirit. I want the reward of being established, and seeing my children, including spiritual children, flourish. Lord, I want to see multiplying disciple makers in our midst. Lead me and show me the way.
