2 Samuel 1-2
H - "After this David inquired of Yahweh, 'Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah?' And Yahweh said to him, 'Go up.' David said, 'To which shall I go up?' And he said,'To Hebron.'" - 2 Samuel 2:1
E - David has just learned that Saul and Jonathan have been killed in battle. He mourns over their deaths. Then, before he makes his next move, he consults God what he should do. God gives specific instructions, even the exact city to which David is to go.
A - Father, do you give leaders specific instructions today? I am facing a leadership crisis and need specific direction from you. I want our church to be unified and well led so that it is pleasing to you. We have some problems to solve and issues to address. I ask that you would give me specific counsel on how to address these problems and issues. Will you do that for me? I don't want to take matters into my own hands.
R - "David was right in consulting me immediately after Saul's death, and I answered him. So I will answer you. You are free to consult me on every decision. On major decisions, you should always consult me. Let me guide you every step. I have a plan for you, your life, your family, your church, and your ministry, just as I did for David. Be a man after my own heart and consult me in decision-making. Incredible results will come."
P - I will certainly do that, Father. By your Spirit, show me what you want done. May I please you with my personal decision making. I want to be totally led by you, seeking your counsel in everything.
