Baptized into One Body

1 Corinthians 12

"For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Messiah. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit. For the body does not consist of one member but of many" (1 Cor 12:12-14).

Thank you, Father, for how you have formed the church to be one body. We are one living organism, held together by bones, muscles, and ligaments, and functioning in unity towards a common purpose. Every body part is important, necessary, and special. You have placed us in the body just as you have desired. We all have a part to play in the proper functioning of the body. Each one of us has gifts (v. 4), services (v. 5), and activities (v. 6) to be engaged in. Help us to be active in the church according to the gifts, services, and activities you have given us. Thank you for Beverly, Alan, Di, Hunter, Will, Elliot, Tehila, Rachel, Bethney, Garth and Kachina, Annalise, Peter, Pieter and Celeste, Allison, Chris and Anna, Paul, Steve and Louise, and many others. The body of Christ is so amazing, and I am so thankful for you have formed us to be one body.

Remind us that though we are many members, we are one body. May we care deeply for one another (v. 25).

I still want to be in a D group, so help that to come together. In Jesus' name, amen.
