1 Corinthians 6
"Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, 'The two will become one flesh.' But he who is joined to the Lord [Jesus] becomes one spirit with him" (1 Cor 6:16-17).
The reason we are to flee from sexual immorality is because as believers our physical bodies are already members of Messiah (v. 15). We were bought with a price (v. 20). We are joined to the Lord Jesus and have become one spirit with him (v. 17). Our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit (v. 19).
Father, thank you my physical body is a member of Messiah and that I am joined to the Lord Jesus and am one spirit with him. Help me to remember these things when I am faced with sexual temptation. May I flee from sexual immorality (v. 18) because I am intimately co-joined with Jesus and with my beautiful wife Averil in holy marriage. Thank you that in Messiah we need not be slaves to sexual sin anymore. Give us spiritual power to be pure and holy in this area. In Jesus' name, amen.
